USHERS MINISTRY
PURPOSE: With the vision of dignifying the servant role, our purpose is to help worshippers experience a vibrant and intimate atmosphere upon entering the house of God for worship.
FUNCTIONS / ACTIVITIES:
- Welcoming and greeting worshippers / visitors
- Distribute of Weekly bulletin
- Assisting the elderly and handicapped
- Ushering worshippers / visitors to available seats
- Collecting offerings
- Directing congregation to the altar during Holy Communion
- Guiding new-comers to the Hospitality corner after service
EXPECTATION / PRE-REQUISITES: The desire to meet and know people is the basic pre-requisites of an usher. Other qualities include warm and friendly disposition. Ushers are expected to be appropriately attired, punctual, dedicated and be willing to stay back after each service to gather bulletins that were left behind for reuse.
MINISTRY’S ATTRACTION: This ministry offers wonderful opportunities to know people and to share God’s love in practical ways. Blessings come in double measures for both the one serving and those being served. Our sincere expression of hospitality and attentiveness to the needs of others will leave a lasting impression on everyone that steps into the House of God.
Time Commitment: New ushers are encouraged to serve for 3 months before making a commitment to serve on a regular basis. Once a year, the ministry holds a gathering for ushers and their spouses for fellowship and celebration.
