For we are called to be stewards of God's creation.
And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.ˮ Genesis 1:28
We believe it is our sacred responsibility to steward and protect Godʼs creation. As the Creator of all things, God has entrusted us with the care of His beautiful universe.
Why Creation Care?
It is a core mission of Christians, reaffirmed by the gospel and Apostlesʼ Creed that speaks of God as “Maker of heaven and earthˮ.
God entrusted us with the duty to care for and steward His creation as He does (Genesis 1:2).
We are called to love God with everything we are (Matthew 22:37).
At Wesley Creation Care, our mission is to raise awareness and encourage sustainable habits that honour and preserve Godʼs handiwork.
Reflect
Think about the relationship that we have with creation:
- Would you describe it as symbiotic?
- How can you form a relationship with creation based on mutual support and benefit?
How To Practice Creation Care?
Being aware of the impact of your actions on the environment (i.e., Godʼs creation) on a daily basis.
Daily Actions You Can Take
- Reuse existing bag or cloth shopping bags
- Refill your water bottles
- Avoid single-use plastic
- Opt for products to reduce plastic waste
- Use energy-saving lights
- Turn off electronic equipment when not in use
- Choose household appliances that are labeled energy efficient to reduce energy consumption.
